Dry fish skin – Pangasius bocourti
Pangasius bocourti (bash fish) is a medium-large to very large catfish native to fresh water in the Mekong river, Vietnam. It is also abundantly cultivated in the Godavari basin in Andhra Pradesh, India.
Farm-raised (sustainably farmed), food-grade pangasius (pangasius bocourti) is an ideal collagen source.
Basa fish skin can be used to derive collagen as an alternative to dried fish scales.
Collagen derived from the skin of these fish contains the essential amino acids proline, valine, hydroxyproline, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, and phenylalanine.
Acid-solubilized collagen (ASC) can be extracted from basa fish skin (Pangasius bocourti) by acetic acid and purified by dialysis, lyophilization and super-critical (SC) CO2 extraction techniques.
The obtained collagen has low impurities of lipids, ashes and appears to be almost odorless, colorless, has appropriate molecular weight, which is suitable for cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food applications.
